La follie

I normally try not to quote other people too much. Being quite narcissistic, I tend to prefer the sound of my own words. Besides, nothing irritates me more than a mere parrot. Seriously it can't be that every quote touches your soul or stimulates your intellect. Apologies but I am philosophically arrogant today.

That said, there are exceptions of course. Like Wilde. I love his candour. The Bard for his ability to make the simplest of emotions or plots seem somewhat elegant. Poe for his darkness and perhaps another handful or so. Recently I have however fallen in love with a quote I heard that speaks to me in such volumes.

"I have loved to the point of madness, that which is called madness, that which to me is the only sensible way to love." - Francoise Sagan.
Sigh. This woman is speaking my language. I suppose you take notice of quotes that seems to justify your very own way of thinking about life. It absolves you somehow. And it welcomes you to the fold when at times you feel incredibly alone and unique in your thoughts. To find validation seems to me in some little way is to find acceptance.

Of course I went to find out more about her through my friends Google and Wiki (how did we survive before they existed I wonder for the hundredth time in a day??) And of course, only I would find a kindred spirit in a person with 'those qualities'. Every single time. It happens with books too or songs. Maybe we all speak the same tongue?

Anyway be that as it may, I am simply appalled at the state of being of the world around me at the moment. Why is it incredibly difficult to find any beauty in this world? When has evil become a trend? Why do we reward those who feel remorseless? Why do we all know so much more but understand nothing? Why do we deny the humanity in us for something plain robotic? These are the weird things that keep me up at night and no.. it has nothing to do with the buzz.

I have a feeling I would have been better suited to live in France. I would say c'est la vie but what I hate more than a parrot is a cliche....
