Hey,

I guess the best surprises are those that don’t come wrapped in a box and ribbon.

The word ‘vacation’ originated from the Latin word ‘vacuitas’ which literally means freedom. And I guess for this trip that description was apt. I never felt so unencumbered or freer. Ok granted we never did end up touching even a grain of sand and yes we averaged 3 to 4 hours of sleep but it was well worth the effort.

So as I unpacked and tried to will myself to accept that it’s now back to the mundane life I have here, I cannot help missing the morning dips in the pool and the midnight floating. It was carefree and exactly what I needed. Maybe it’s the exhibitionist in me but those lovely showers in that vast bathroom on the first floor where it was not fully enclosed save for strategic trees all around was a practice I got used to easily.

Now the hat is hung and the bikinis retired. Time to brush off the suit off the rack and get back into the power game.

We never made it to see the sunset but perhaps that’s just as well as the breaking of dawns are more my style anyway...at this juncture of my life. The arqams will just have to wait after I am done with this period in my life.
