Bigger Picture

I pulled the collar of coat to shield against the cold. Walked across the Southwark Bridge. I could have chosen the Millennium Bridge which was nearby...new, sterile and modern. But as usual it is familiarity and character that wins me over. The night was crisp, fresh and tinged with innocence. This is unusual considering where I was, at the heart of the rat race. But tonight the manicness of commerce was subdued by the chill in the air. I quickened my pace, wanting to reach my destination and be lulled by the warmth of the lights. Yet I could not shake this feeling, a strange sensation which was not unpleasant but unfamiliar at the same time. I made it across the bridge and then back again, the river was still and the water like black marble that stretched forever. I stood transfixed for a moment in time, the city looks calm and even inviting for once. There is a definitely electricity in the air and as I zig and zag my way out of alleys and streets I could not help feeling like I am apart of this grand design.
